18th & 21st Supper Club Hosts Benefit for MakingChange

18th & 21st, the new supper club in Downtown Columbia is hosting a benefit, “An Evening at the Speakeasy,” for MakingChange, a nonprofit in Howard County which empowers individuals and families to achieve financial stability.

“An Evening at the Speakeasy” is set for Monday, Sept. 17, from 5:30-7:30 p.m, and will feature an imaginative sampling menu, handcrafted cocktails and piano music in the luxurious surroundings of the reimagined prohibition-era supper club in Downtown Columbia.

18th & 21st is located in the One Merriweather office building, 10980 Grantchester Way, Suite 110. Admission to the benefit is $85 per person, with all proceeds going to support MakingChange programs and services. For reservations, visit eveningatthespeakeasy.eventbrite.com.

MakingChange had a record year in FY18, teaching people to manage their money and change their lives. Seminars served 1,275 participants, and 143 clients received personal financial coaching in 406 sessions. MakingChange also prepared free tax returns for 743 people.

MakingChange programs are offered in schools, human service agencies, businesses and elsewhere as requested. The organization also conducts Housing Counseling sessions for prospective homeowners. Last year 269 families attended the First Time Homebuyer Program.

MakingChange offices are located at the MultiService Center in North Laurel and at the NonProfit Collaborative offices in Columbia.
