Archana Ponnada is a high school senior from Woodstock, Maryland. She is Marriotts Ridge High School’s Senior Class President and also serves as the Millionaire’s Club president where she aims to provide the resources and knowledge necessary for high schoolers to take charge of their financial futures. Ms. Ponnada has further developed an understanding of financial wellness’ impact on high schoolers through her internship at The Maryland General Assembly, where she worked to determine students’ confidence in their financial decision-making abilities. Furthermore, as an Intern at Johns Hopkins University, Ms. Ponnada works under the guidance of Dr. Yuval Bar-Or to determine how an increased awareness of financial literacy can empower physicians to make better financial decisions.
Alongside financial wellness, Ms. Ponnada is also passionate about entrepreneurship. In 2020, she founded Archie’s Cupcakes, a hobby-based baked goods service in which she sells cupcakes and custom-designed cakes to clients across Howard County, Maryland. As a part of her business, she donates 25% of her revenue to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and cupcakes to various shelters across Howard and Baltimore County.
Ms. Ponnada is currently on track for National Academy Foundation certification in finance. Upon completion of high school, she will be pursuing a dual concentration in finance and multinational management at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.
