MakingChange Wins Financial Ed Award

MakingChange is the winner of the Outstanding Organization Award presented by the Maryland CASH (Creating Assets, Savings, and Hope) Campaign, Maryland Council of Economic Education and the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).

The Financial Education and Capability Awards are intended to highlight the dedication and success of public school teachers, community champions and outstanding organizations who deliver financial education.

Three public school educators, a volunteer educator and advocate in Baltimore, and MakingChange were recognized at a ceremony in Annapolis March 13.  MakingChange was cited for providing “financial education in a variety of ways and locations to low-to-moderate income adults in Howard County.”

The Woodside Foundation, which sponsored the Outstanding Organization Award, noted MakingChange’s “expanding outreach and programmatic innovations to meet evolving family needs.”

MakingChange had a record year in FY16, attracting more people than ever before to its  group seminars and personal coaching sessions to teach people to manage their money and change their lives. Seminars served over 700 people, and approximately 100 clients received personal financial coaching.  MakingChange also prepared free tax returns for 453 people. MakingChange programs are offered in schools, human service agencies, businesses and elsewhere as requested.
